  • Friday was Mid-summer's Eve. Cycled with the kids to the local maypole celebration. Back home, I assembled the first barbecue I've ever owned and made some really nice souvlaki for our guests.
  • Saturday we visited Felicia's charming parents in rural Grödinge, not far from where my grandparents used to have a summer house. Learned a lot about beekeeping the hands-on way, saw interesting plants & poultry.
  • Sunday I took a long bike ride with the kids and logged three geocaches.

And your weekend, Dear Reader?

Me and my family was in Skeppsgården two and a half mile south of Valdemarsvik. And there I meet the guitarist Johan from the Vikingmetalband Amon Amarth on this place. The world is smaller than we think. They are very big now and can live on their music. You love some metal Asko says but this one maybe is to heavy for you take a look on. http://www.amonamarth.com

Cool! One of Aard's regular commenters is the sister of Amon Amarth's singer!

Hey! Amon Amarth! \m/
I spent the weekend pretending to be a Viking lady. We had 7000 visitors come to our living history event last year, and I would guess there were just as many, or maybe a bit more, this year. I demo:ed weaving on my warp weighted loom and on my daughter's card weaving loom, and I sewed some baby bootees out of sheep skin that I got from Ödin's in Visby when we were there for spring break. I had a very cute four-month-old member of the group model them for me on the Sunday. We had a blast, as always, and the big feast with period approprate food and drink on Saturday night did not hurt any...´cept for the day after!

I was also playing Viking lady this weekend but at an SCA event. Our potluck feast wasn't as period as Christine's, but it was excellent. Got to try bear meat for the first time. It was very different, but good.

Your kids are great, Martin! So many great questions! :)

Dr Gilljam's name is actually something else, though - since I haven't asked permission I can't tell you what ;)
