Weekend Fun

Category: Having Fun
Posted on: January 18, 2010 8:20 AM, by Martin R

Here's what I did for fun this past weekend.

  • Watched Avatar.
  • Had a dim sum dinner.
  • Chucked out the Christmas tree, lopped off the branches and kept the trunk to bring to my dad's place for firewood. (This doesn't sound like fun? Well, my life consists of fun, work and chores, and anything related to Christmas trees has to be sorted under "fun".)
  • Went skiing on the golf course.
  • Had friends over for dinner and a game of Power Grid.

And you, Dear Reader?

In other news, Chris O'Brien at Northstate Science has resumed blogging after a long hiatus. Chris is a zooarchaeologist (i.e. animal osteologist) and an outspoken atheist who writes a lot about US creationism. Check him out!

Hej Martin!
Well, I went skiing on the ice of Vanda-å, one km north of the place where Gustav den Förste grundade staden Helsingfors some 465 years ago if I remember right. Now, I'm a little younger but my skis are nearly archeological stuff, made in the forties of whole wood. Unfortunalely not mine from childhood (I broke those of course) and sticks of real bamboo.
And sun!

Your's is a nice blogg, I follow it rather keenly archeology beeing "Eine alte Liebe"!

Hyvää uutta vuotta!

A fun dim sum or a dumb dim sum?

Got so annoyed enough with my many-years-old multi-tonne power-sucking c.17" CRT monitor I went to Teh Bigge City and purchased a brand new c.24" few-Kg less-power-suck TFT flat panel monitor. Still getting used to being able to see things nicely big and clear and bright and with vastly better contrast…

Whilst there, had a nice lunch, wasn't rained on, and didn't get sore feet. So had some wine to celebrate… Don't recall the rest.  ;-)

Sounds pretty good! We need to buy another screen. Junior keeps hogging the one we've got.
