Dr. Martin Rundkvist is a Swedish archaeologist, journal editor, public speaker, chairman of the Swedish Skeptics Society, atheist, lefty liberal, bookworm, and father of two.
- Took a walk and photographed two buildings for Wikipedia.
- Went skiing on the golf course.
- Had friends over, played a game of Scotland Yard and a game of Power Grid.
- Painted three walls in the bedroom. This was sort of a chore, but not in fact boring, and having a nice-looking bedroom is fun. The fourth wall is destined for some faux-Japanese cherry-branch wallpaper on pale grey that looks like something out of a William Gibson novel.
- Had family over for a fine Korean dinner cooked by two Chinese sisters.
One piece of fun that I missed out on was Midlake's Stockholm gig. It was sold out. Anyway, I haven't heard their new album, and I usually don't enjoy gigs much when I haven't heard the songs before. So I might as well put some of that concert-ticket money into a CD instead.

Oh we cleaned the parrot room today (lots of shit scooping), and then watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I had to get it sent to me from Finland, so that my whole set will be the Finnish versions.

Had my eldest daughter's best friend round after school friday.
Saturday morning was spent cooking and cleaning so we were ready for my son's birthday party that afternoon, it had a dragon theme so we had dragon's egg birthday cake, dragon's egg cookies, jewelled gold coin cookies, dragon's egg pinata, and a treasure hunt for the dragon's hoard (chocolate coins).
Sunday we headed up to Melbourne for the monthly SCA tournament, which was fun but medieval costumes and armour were not designed to cope with 33 deg (Celsius) heat.
All up it was a very busy weekend, but lots of fun.

Aha, and I learn that a de Prony brake is "a simple device invented by Gaspard de Prony to measure the torque produced by an engine". TIR apparently "Transports International Routiers”, the name given to international road service facilities where one truck crosses many frontiers carrying goods".
Why are you making an instrument to measure engine torque? Most intriguing.

On Saturday, I picked up the
teddy bear, who has just visited Argentina, and passed in on so it can now go to Egypt and Croatia.
Then I went home and prepared a dinner for friends who came over in the evening: first margaritas and pico de gallo to chase away any thoughts of winter, then skewers with marinated salmon, scallops and shrimp and to top it off a dessert of violet-flavored ice cream served with a kiwifruit sauce and raspberries.
Sunday was actually planned for chores, but the weather was just too good, so I postponed* most of them and went out skating instead.
* You may have heard the solemn promise: "Tomorrow I'm going to stop procrastinating"...
