What disease are you?

Category: HumorMisc.
Posted on: April 17, 2006 11:00 AM, by Tara C. Smith

Regular readers have probably noticed I rarely do quizzes. I'm just lame like that. But this one was a bit too perfect for this site: What disease are you? My results after the jump.

You Are Ebola!

Also known as Hemorrhagic Fever, you are a risk-taker. You love to travel and experience the world. You are not afraid to walk on the wild side, while still being a funny, yet sarcastic person. Being so open-minded, you have been known to shock people, which is a symptom that occurs within one week of being infected. What happens next? A quick and excrutiating death...technicalities.

OK, I cop to the sarcasm and I consider myself pretty open-minded, but I doubt many people I know would characterize me as a risk-taker. I'm far too boring.

First I was heart disease, but with a few tweaks I became influenza. But I am very jealous of ebola. Rare _and_ lethal is cool...

I'm Ebola too. Yeah, that describes me. Well, except the death part. I'm hoping to make people celebrate life more.

You're Ebola? There's an ecologist in Texas who wants a word...

I'm 'flu: "Also known as the flu, you are warm, nurturing, and make a great confidante." That's what I tell all the birds. "...you sure can clear out a room with your lame jokes." Uh-hu.

Ebola.

Damn, I was hoping for smallpox or plague, a real megadeath causer that changed history rather than some jumped-up, overpublicized johnny-come-lately virus that's killed less than a few thousand.

On another topic: any recommendations for a lay or accessible introductory text on epidemiology for the curious?
