Profile

afarcomp3.jpg Afarensis is a 3.5-2.8 million year old hominin from the Kada Hadar member of the Hadar formation in the Middle Awash, Ethiopia. He is approximately 41 inches tall, weighs approximately 60 pounds and has a cranial capacity of a whopping 410 cc (approximately). Afarensis is currently considered to be transitional between apes and humans and displays some traits of both. Since he spends a lot of time on the couch watching monster movies, some observers question whether he is an obligate biped (although no one has observed him climbing a tree). He also has a blog called Transitions:The Evolution of Life His previous blog can be found here.

Oh My! The Company Dembski Keeps!

    Category: Intelligent Design
Posted on: June 16, 2007 10:29 PM, by afarensis, FCD

Stranger Fruit mentions that Dembski is promoting a new "...an international coalition of non-religious ID scientists & scholars..." Hermagoras uncovers the fact that Brookfield is an "ID Pleasurian". It gets weirder though. Turns out Brookfield is trying to start a porn store

...company specializing in high quality sexual products, but capable of expanding into other fields -- all related to pleasure. While vibrators and lingerie can indeed be "pleasuria" so can everything from lawn chairs to clothing to boats to recreational vehicles. Pleasuria.com is intended as both a profitable venture and a moral venture designed to increase the quality/pleasure of human life. Pleasuria.com is intended as an independent self sustaining vehicle for the promotion of pleasurian philosophy (and ID/pleasurian science).

One learns that if something looks to good to be true - and a leading ID advocate in bed cahoots with something like this is just too good to be true - then it is probably a scam...but then I may be giving ID advocates credit for being smarter than what they are. Imagine dragging this guy into court at the next ID trail...

Brookfield: We wish to teach about the pleasure of recreational vehicles your Honor -
Discovery Institute Lawyer hurriedly interrupts: Nothing wrong with that, moving along -
Brookfield: With vibrators, lingerie and lotions -
Discovery Institute Lawyer: Damn! Lost again...

Gives a new meaning to the "Wedge" document don't it?

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

    Those damn methodological naturalists!

First they took GOD out of science, now they take GOD out of porn, what is the world c*ming to??

This should not be surprising. ID is mental masturbation -- it's not productive but it feels good.

To be honest, tha sounds like a more healthy activity than most being promoted by the ID crowd.

A parody comment on Dembski's Pleasurian friend seems to have made it past the UD censors. Catch it while it's still there. I've also blogged about it over at paralepsis.
