The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has released video clips of part of the Gateses' remarks from the AIDS Conference opening ceremonies. Each video is about a minute long, and includes camera shots that give a sense of the size of the stadium and the mood of the audience. Click on the images below to view.

I particularly appreciated the statement about protection: "No matter where she lives, who she is, or what she does, a woman should never need her partner's permission to save her own life".

Well, I for one an very impressed at what Bill and Melinda Gates are attempting to do. As a long-time Apple and Mac user, I took great pleasure in demonizing Bill the Gates as the Evil Monopolist. My opinion of Gates has changed considerably lately. They have taken philanthropy to a whole new level and seem intent on truly trying to change the world for the better.
