In addition to what Katherine was nice enough to mention, I wanted to take just a moment to introduce myself to new readers. Officially, I have one of the longest job titles ever: molecular infectious disease epidemiologist, in which I use my background in molecular biology and microbiology to look at microbial genetics and how they influence disease deveopment.
As Katherine mentioned, I generally blog over at Aetiology, discussing issues involving epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, and science in general. Throughout my career, I've done research on a variety of bacteria and viruses, looking not only at their epidemiology but also pathogenesis and gene regulation. My interest in HIV mainly revolves around the 3E's: the epidemiology, evolution, and ecology of the virus. More recently, I've also become interested in the phenomenon of HIV/AIDS denial and the parallels between the methods this group uses and those used by other anti-science groups, such as creationists. For those interested, you can find previous posts I've written on HIV/AIDS at this link.
I'm looking forward to the insights of the other bloggers, and checking out as much as I can of the conference from here in the midwest.

Hello Tara and all,
I am not able to get up to Toronto this year, as I have been busy doing a lot of necessary writing myself. I was wondering if anybody knows what this years THEME for the conference is. Every year the conference has a THEME for all of us to take to heart and consider. What would the words of wisdom of the selected THEME be this year? I am sure that whatever it is, it will be VERY appropriate!

I just looked on the official web page for the Toronto AIDS Conference, and found out what the THEME is:

The Theme this year is:
TIME TO DELIVER!
I think those words are absolutely appropriate to the occasion this year! How about you?
