The Powerhouse of the Carpet

"Neurosigntist" and blogger John Ohab sent me this photo of garish carpet in a Vegas hotel. It appears to depict mitochondria on a field of roses. And it's really, really ugly. Thanks John!

It's hard to believe this is real carpet. Someone designed it, someone else thought it would sell, and finally someone thought it was worth buying. It's so hideous! The fact that you can look at it and provide a scientific interpretation of it, is even better :)

What are those things even meant to be? My first thought was virus's, but mitochondria does work a lot better...
