A former colleague of mine, experiencing symptoms associated with burgeoning schizophrenia, went to a therapist who eventually told him to stop his work on evolutionary biology, become a born-again christian, and reject Satan's influence; in other words, this state-sponsored counsellor was simply a recruiting agent for a local church.
Personally, I can count only about 3 people as friends close enough to discuss such intimate personal problems with. Two of them live thousands of kilometres away, and the other would be financially unable to offer much assistance of either time or resources.
Makes me appreciate what I have, a lot. Also, perhaps a sign of people truly serving God, rather than themselves...
