There is a total lunar eclipse this weekend, saturday at midnight in western Europe, right at sunset on the east coast of the US.

To see it in the US, hope for clear skies, and find high ground with unobstructed view to the east and look for the moon rising right at sunset.
Here are the technical details
One hour and 14 minute duration.
Total eclipse becomes visible right at the Iran-Afghan border, ironically enough, and is just visible on the east coast of the US right at sunset. Europe, Middle East and Africa will get the best view, although the most spectacular views are likely to be in east Iran and east US, looking at the Moon at the horizon.
Might possibly get the "blood red Moon" effect at a spectacular level, as sunlight refracts through the Earth's atmosphere and reflects off the dark Moon, and then comes back along the horizon, maximizin g the reddening.
Admire the view, those of you lucky enough to get it.
Hope you are not superstitious.
More to the point, hope silly politicians and religious do not use the opportunity for psychological warfare...

I like to describe the orange moon as "the light of a million sunsets" (it's sun rises too).
