Dynamics of Cats

Speculations on astronomy, astrophysics, news I find interesting, theoretical issues, science and science policy. I will digress into computational physics, science fiction and general issues and basically whatever I feel like whenever. And, of course, cats.

iPod iChing - HST late night edition

Category: astro
Posted on: March 7, 2008 1:01 PM, by Steinn Sigurðsson

It is friday, but it is not snowing, here, yet.

So, we skip to the mighty iPod and we ask: modulo the vagaries of fickle panelists, how will our Hubble Proposals, cycle 17, fare?

Whoosh goes the randomizer.
Whoosh.

  • The Covering: Afmaælisvísur Bangsapabba - Thorbjorn Egner

  • The Crossing: Gartloney Rats - Pogues

  • The Crown: I Can't Dance - Genesis

  • The Root: Scene (Moderato) Nutcracker - Tchaikovsky

  • The Past: Always the Sun - Stranglers

  • The Future: White Trash Wedding - Dixie Chicks

  • The Questioner: Voice Inside My Head - Dixie Chicks

  • The House: Blóðið er Rautt - Utangarðsmenn

  • The Inside: Funky Days Are Back Again - Cornershop

  • The Outcome: Wish You Were Her - Billy Bragg

Oh, my. A bloodbath for the House, while the Covering is a birthday celebration for the Teddy Bear Papa.

The Future: "...mama don't approve
You can't afford no ring"

The Outcome - longing for what could have been...

So, no surprises, lots of pain, some funk.
Sounds like we'll get something but maybe not what we hoped for.

Wise it the iPod.

As always, the Key as explained by Sean

The Questioner:
And I want, I need
Somehow to believe
In the choice I made
Am I better off this way

The title of the Root is a bit vague--I can't place it even though I'm familiar with the Nutcracker. Some of the possibilities would be good news, particularly the Arabian Dance (Coffee). Others, like the battle scene, not so much.
