Dynamics of Cats

Speculations on astronomy, astrophysics, news I find interesting, theoretical issues, science and science policy. I will digress into computational physics, science fiction and general issues and basically whatever I feel like whenever. And, of course, cats.

psychic predicts - 23:15 on 27th July 2009

Category: Icelandrandom

That is when a prominent psychic in Iceland predicts there'll be a major earthquake.

Specifically in the Krýsuvík area in the southwest.
This is an area where there have been some minor earthquakes recently.

Ok... we'll see in a few hours I guess.

Quantitative value of "major" is not specified.
Personally I'd put it at magnitude 6 or larger.

She claims to have predicted the earthquakes in Iceland in 2000 and 2008, though I don't see a dated cite for this.

In case you're interested: she also claims to know where Madeleine McCann is, I'd like to think she'd tell Madeleine's parents this, soon; she also claims to be predicting an assassination attempt on Obama in the near future, no word on whether she is sharing any details on this; oh, and she predicts two volcanic eruptions in Iceland in the near future, one probably Hekla, and the other maybe in the southwest.

Well, hell, I predict there will be two volcanic eruptions in Iceland in the near future, and that one will probably be Hekla, and maybe one in the southwest, sometime in the next few hundred years.
But I'm not psychic. At all.

Looking forward to any retractions and apologies, but I won't hold my breath.

"If there is an earthquake, she should be burned as a witch. If there is not, she should be drowned for a fool" - comment by Keli on an Icelandic thread on facebook.

Here is the front page interview in a major weekly in Iceland - she confesses that she can't absolutely confirm the time, or place, or actual nature of the event, but she has this vibe...

PS: per comments - no earthquake at the scheduled time, little nor large

Amazingly enough, there was absolutely no earthquake at all anywhere in Iceland at 23:15 last night.
I don't understand what went wrong.

Fortunately, L'ara, the psychic, has adopted a wait-and-see attitude, she thinks there may be an earthquake sometime in the next few days, but we are not to be scared. Oh, and the weather may change, or something big is going to happen.
Soon.

To be honest, i do agree with you on something BIG to happen. could be natural or man-made. i've been feeling this way for quite a while. But the only dates i can predict for this to happen is between 23rd or 30th november to 23rd/30th of december 09.
Another thing, im also surprised you felt a posibility of an earthquake presence, i still felt this way, but im feeling it might be between my predicted dates or by next year, i'll give it 3-5 months to occur.
[My dates are only predictions of possibility for this to happen. im still trying to understand the whole psychic gift thing.]
Preesha.
