Kicking off Christina’s LIS Giving

No, not mis-giving. In fact, there will be no misgivings if you give to any of the projects I’ve selected or any of the other projects on Donor’s Choose.

A little background. DonorsChoose.org is a way that you can safely give a little or a lot of money to help teachers in the classroom. The teachers have to have very specific plans and then have to report back. It’s all very carefully managed. Read about how it works. Science Blogs and other social media folks have a little contest going, but you should give because it’s the right thing to do. It would be nice if you did it so I got credit in the competition, but the important thing is to help the teachers.

You can also give gift certificates to Donors Choose. I did this for participants in one of the studies I did. It’s great because you get to hear what they picked and they get to pick something interesting to them. If they don’t pick, Donors Choose will pick for them.

If you are a school library media specialist or teacher, please consider adding a project if there’s something you need to teach your students science. We’d love to get you the help you need!

Do you need me to promise something crazy to encourage you?  What would that look like?

You already might win some goodies:

Forward your confirmation email to scienceblogs (at) gmail (dot) com and you will automatically be entered in a weekly drawing to win a bag of swag, including Seed custom moleskin notebooks and tote bags and ScienceBlogs mugs and USB drives.

I just donated to one of your projects because you picked Maryland projects :) They're all good causes, but I was thrilled to be able to pick one that will benefit kids in my state.
