Elizabeth Edwards in the news

Today's Raleigh News and Observer has a nice article about Elizabeth Edwards (the smartest of the 2004 Democratic candidate quartet), her battle with cancer and her new book (including a couple of short excerpts):

Edwards emerges from cancer with grace:

Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former Democratic vice presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. John Edwards, says in a new book that she survived a harrowing battle with advanced breast cancer last year that left her too depleted for public appearances.

Largely out of the public eye since her husband's loss to the Bush-Cheney ticket in 2004, Edwards describes in a forthcoming autobiography how she endured months of grueling treatment in early 2005. The treatment included chemotherapy, surgery and radiation with side effects, including nausea, loss of hair and nerve damage in her hand that made it difficult to write.

Actually, the Edwards family & friends say that John and Elizabeth are intellectual equals, with John having an edge in matters of analysis. I would say he is the smartest, most strategic of the 04 bunch, but they (the two Johns, Teresa, Elizabeth) were all intelligent people to begin with, so it doesn't really matter who had a slight edge.

Edwards is a discreet man, and very shrewd.

But that's besides the point, this is good news for their family - good bless them.

That is true...my little snark was targeted at people who tended to ignore her during the campaign (lookism?).

Love Elizabeth, just love her and can't wait to read the book. If you need a fix before the book tour cranks up I posted part 1 of an interview she did with Keith Olbermann on Countdown September 2004 over at YouTube.
Elizabeth Edwards on Countdown.
I'm a big supporter, if you follow the link and cruise around that will be obvious.
