The Wonders of the Blogosphere

Category: Blogging
Posted on: November 17, 2006 3:36 PM, by Coturnix

First - great news! Jennifer and Sean are getting married! They found each other online, blogging physics. Now, I know they are not the first people to find each other online and get married, but, to my knowledge, this is the highest-profile pair of bloggers to do so. And the first I know in the specifically science blogosphere. Is that true? Anyway, go say Hi to both of them. Congratulations!

Second, after a very long hiatus (but I kept checking often, always hopeful), everyone's favourite artist of extinct mammals and other charismatic megafauna, Olduvai George is back to blogging again, giving us all a new set of great pictures every Tuesday and Friday. And he re-started the blog with something unusual for him - pictures of fish.

I think megnut/kottke or rebecca blood/jjg might have these two beat for "high-profile", but I don't know of any other scienceblogger matchups.

I was going to mention Jason Kottke and Megnut, but someone beat me to it. :) I read about their match-up shortly after meeting Sean, although at the time, things were pretty new and it didn't occur to me we'd have a similar ending!

I guess it depends on one's part of the Universe. I have heard of Kottke and Rebecca Blood, but never of Megnut and jjg, and this is the first time I heard of them finding significant others online. For me, Jennifer and Sean are superstars of the blogosphere way above those others mentioned here.

Anyway, I expect an open-source wedding (the way Brian and Ruby did it): getting the blog readers to choose date, location, dress, rings, menu, etc.

hi...it's been a while! i moved over to wordpress from blogspot and the learning curve was something for me. that's great about the couple getting hitched!!!!!

just to let you know that my blog, harper valley, is up for the canadian blog awards in three categories, 'best new blog', 'best humour' and 'best blog series'. you can vote once a day , and if you do, in a sense it's a vote for yourself as i'm one if not the only canadian bloggers up for an award who links to you :)
