Three Simple Rules for Blogfights

How to fight with other bloggers (via)

I tend to avoid getting in fights with individuals. I'd rather insult millions all at once.

(Let's see if this shows up as Quote on the scienceblogs.com front page tomorrow....)

I'm not sure I entirely agree that you should only "fight" with bloggers or things bigger than yourself. If a blog with much, much less traffic than mine decides to take me on and I notice, I like to think I'm doing him/her a favor by responding (although I usually do try to live up to the "Respectful" in Respectful Insolence when I do so) because it sends a lot of traffic their way. See today's post later this morning...

Well, it says to link to the little buggers and respond, but not make a huge deal out of it and focus on bigger fish. In your case, it is not so much the person you are attacking but the idea s/he is respresenting.

Like people in real life, there are really only two types of bloggers. Those in broadcast mode, and those that aren't.

...and even then, I attacked the racist mob that inhabits the comment sections of your old blog, not you personally.

Good to know. I rarely go to your old digs now, except when someone links to a good post there.
