It seems like I am always "on the computer"

Are you, too?

Is there a good, dignified response we could invent to use in such situations?

I generally sit next to or in front of mine. Yeah, that line doesn't work any better for the wife... :)

I had the bright idea once of getting my wife interested in an online forum, figuring she would lay off the "are you on the computer again" comments. It worked. Now I can't get on the computer because she's on Internet Infidels! And my 5 year-old has a virtual horse at horseland.com that she just *has* to feed and ride every day.

I really need to get another computer.....

Oh, the same story here - four of us jockeying for the computer. I hog it most of the time, though. We need four laptops! Do you know of any good cheap offers?

I am always on the computer when I'm at home. That's why I have to go to a cafe with no free wifi for a few hours every morning to write.

My husband, thank goodness, is a computer junkie as well. We email and IM each other when we are both home, sometimes when we are both sitting in the same room.

When I got my first computer and modem around 1989 or 1990, my husband was very jealous. I finally broke down and got him his own PC and that's all she wrote. It's become his #1 full time hobby.

I guess I'm an addict. I can't really imagine living without email and the internet, although I could easily give up most other forms of media, except for books.
