As inevitable as it was, it was still sad to see it happen. His speaking out about poverty and his support of netroots should hopefully continue to positively influence the 2008 race. For those still interested in change, though, Obama seems like the obvious candidate to turn to now.

I noticed something interesting from that first link you posted (by Jonathan Cohn). He questions whether Edwards' populism was genuine or phony, or like most politicans, a combination of both.
I am reminded of a quote by Kurt Vonnegut: "we are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."
Even if Edwards was just a fake politican, there are certainly worse things to pretend to be than a populist fighting for the common man.
He had a great message and I sure do feel bad for him. This is the second time he's attempted to run for president, and it must be terrible to have to drop out twice.
