The voter registration deadline in North Carolina is this Friday, October 10th.

Are you registered? Do you know where to vote? You can find information and register (if you are not) here (this is an Obama site, but it works for everyone):

Can I vote early in person?

One-Stop Early Voting in North Carolina starts on Thursday, October 16 and lasts until Saturday, November 1. Find your Early Vote location.

You can register and vote at the same time during One-Stop Early Voting. You cannot register to vote on election day, November 4.

Where do I go on November 4?

Soon you will be able to enter your address and find the polling location that's closest to you.

We can let you know when this is available--just fill out the polling location request form.

You can also check with your State Board of Elections.

What time will the polls be open on November 4?

6:30 am-7:30 pm

What do I bring with me when I go?

Identification is required if you are a first time voter who registered by mail and did not provide verification with your application.

What about voters with disabilities?

Voting assistance, curbside voting, and reassignment of polling place are offered to Voters with Disabilities.

Reassignment of polling place

If a disabled voter does not wish to vote curbside, and the polling place is not sufficiently equipped to allow comfortable or adequate entrance to the building, there is another option Satellite voting places: A county board of elections may, upon approval of a request submitted in writing to the State Board of Elections, establish a plan whereby elderly or Voters with Disabilities in a precinct may vote at designated sites within the precinct other than the regular voting place for that precinct.

The State Board of Elections shall approve a county board's proposed plan if:

* All the satellite voting places to be used are listed in the county's written request
* The plan will in the State Board's judgment overcome a barrier to voting by the elderly or disabled persons
* Adequate security against fraud is provided for
* The plan does not unfairly favor or disfavor voters with regard to race or party affiliation

Curbside voting

Aged and disabled persons allowed to vote outside voting enclosure. In any primary or election any qualified voter who is able to travel to the voting place, but because of age, or physical disability and physical barriers encountered at the voting place is unable to enter the voting place or enclosure to vote in person without physical assistance, shall be allowed to vote either in the vehicle conveying such person to the voting place or in the immediate proximity of the voting place.

Voting assistance

Assistance to voters in primaries and general elections. In a primary or general election, a registered voter qualified to vote in the primary or general election shall be entitled to assistance in getting to and from the voting booth and in preparing his ballots in accordance with the following rules:

* Any voter shall be entitled to assistance from a near relative of his [her] choice.
* Any voter in any of the following four categories shall be entitled to assistance from a person of the voter's choice, other than the voter's employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter's union:
* One who, on account of physical disability, is unable to enter the voting booth without assistance;
* One who, on account of physical disability, is unable to mark his ballots without assistance;
* One who, on account of illiteracy, is unable to mark his ballots without assistance;
* One who, on account of blindness, is unable to enter the voting booth or mark his ballots without assistance.

Please visit your state's resource for additional information.

Registered last friday! Now to find out where to vote... Do I need a NC drivers license or can I bring my passport? I was totally confused by the mail-in registration. I am used to registering when I get my DL, but NC is being extremely difficult with me trying to get a damn DL. I haven't been required in 4 states in 10 years to take a written exam and provide insurance before getting a DL! What if I didn't own a car?? Why would I need insurance?
