About
Cognitive Daily reports nearly every day on fascinating peer-reviewed developments in cognition from the most respected scientists in the field.
The research isn't dumbed down, but it's explained in language that everyone can understand, with clear illustrations and references to the original research.
Cognitive Daily is maintained by Dave Munger and Margaret P. Munger.
Greta Munger is Professor of Psychology at Davidson College. She received her B.A. (1989) from the University of Chicago, and her Ph.D. (1994) from Columbia University. Her research focuses on perception -- how we organize and understand the world around us -- and her work is regularly published in journals such as The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition and Visual Cognition.
She teaches General Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Perception & Attention, History of Psychology, and a seminar on perception and cognition in the arts entitled "Psychology Goes to the Movies." Her teaching has led to a book, The History of Psychology: Fundamental Questions (Oxford, 2003).
Dave Munger is a freelance writer and former editor who is the author of six editions of three different books for college writing students: 80 Readings (HarperCollins, 1992), The Pocket Reader (Longman, 2000), and Researching Online (Longman, 1999-2001). He holds a B.A. (1989) from the University of Chicago, a Master's in Science Education (1994) from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Master's in English (2004) from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
He maintains a personal blog, Word Munger, and has contributed to The Quarterly Conversation, MacBytes.com, and Tree House Magazine. He has also written a memoir, Small Journeys, for which he is now seeking a publisher.
Dave and Greta's two kids, Nora, 14, and Jim, 15, often serve as inspiration for their articles on Cognitive Daily.
Aaron Couch, a senior Psychology major at Davidson College, was the Cognitive Daily Intern for Summer 2007. He took care of the blog while Dave, Greta, Jim, and Nora toured Europe in June and July 2007.
