Japan's Green Movement

Nearly 10 years after it hosted the Kyoto global warming summit, Japan still claims a leadership role in reducing carbon emissions. The national expression of concern for the earth dovetails nicely with the traditional Japanese reverence for nature (Shintoism sees gods in every mountain, rock, and tree), but in fact Japan has no choice: The country imports almost all its oil and 60 percent of its food. It is self-sufficient only in rice. ( Boston Globe)

Given the rather aggressive GHG promises coming out of Britain do you think the leadership position has changed?

I lived in Korea for two years in the late 90's. The way they tear down structures and rebuild them...I am afraid that I wouldn't recognize the landscape I was familiar with back then if I visited their today. Asian countries like Korea, Japan and definitely China would benefit greatly by employing green technologies in their building practices. Thanks for your post.
