Invasive species are an environmental problem of epic proportions especially for island nations that threatens to wipe out native flora and fauna. The cane toads of Australia are no exception. A massive specimen reportedly the size of a small dog was captured on Tuesday.
Frogwatch, which is dedicated to wiping out a toxic toad species that has killed countless Australian animals, picked up the 15-inch-long cane toad during a raid on a pond outside the northern city of Darwin late Monday. ( Boston Globe)
