Why Does Milk Cost More than Gas?

For that matter why does milk cost more than soda? The short answer to that question might be substantive farm subsidies for food staples such as corn and sugar. An addtional factor driving up the cost of milk is the ethanol stampede. Ethanol, as we all have been taught to believe by now, will bring us "energy independence" and lessen global warming with no change in the way we live--unless we happen to be a small child in a household with a limited budget. How do you feel about soymilk? I've switched to it recently. It costs less (in my area), and it lasts much longer in the fridge.

We've been drinking soy milk for many years now.
Cow's milk is for cow babies.
