A respected research institute wanted Chinese classical texts to adorn its journal, something beautiful and elegant, to illustrate a special report on China. Instead, it got a racy flyer extolling the lusty details of stripping housewives in a brothel.
Let me be the first to make the joke that I'm all for "open access" but this is a bit much...nyuk nyuk nyuk...

Ooo dear. I always suspect something similar with tourist T-shirts with slogans on them. Just goes to show you can't be too careful.

I've heard you find stuff like this on tatoos--that the Chinese characters on that hipster's arm are as likely as anything to say "stupid white guy paid too much for this tatoo"

Most tattoos I've seen are only one character. Do you really think they can make a whole phrase about how stupid you are out of one character?
