ScienceBlogs Book Club: Inside the Outbreaks

The Corpus Callosum

The Corpus Callosum is an occasional journal of armchair musings, by a suburban, reality-based, slightly-left-of-center guy, who reserves the right to be highly irregular at times. Topics: social commentary, neuroscience, politics, science news. Mission: to develop connections between hard science and social science, using linear thinking and intuition; and to explore the relative merits of spontaneity vs. strategy.

Clear Statement About Health Care Coverage

Category: MedicineSocial Issues
Posted on: March 24, 2007 12:21 PM, by Joseph j7uy5

Finally, we have a nice succinct statement from a politician on the subject of health care coverage.

I know this is controversial, in the sense that, so far, the mainstream operatives in both major parties reject this.  Still, I truly believe that if most people understood the issue, they would agree with Kucinich.

Most of the stated objections are based upon ideological concerns, totally divorced from any sort of objectivity.  That is the case within the Republican party.

Within the Democratic party, it is probably more accurate to say that it is concern about corporate influence that leads to the failure to support the only sensible course of action.

Ironically, from my perspective, the Republicans are being more honest about it.  At least they say what they believe, even if what they believe is wrong.

A few hours ago a second video was posted on youtube with him speaking for 20 minutes about his and Conyers bill, H.R. 676.

From the reaction of the audience, they understood what he was saying, especially about the insurance companies hold on our system, and they agree with him.

Hear, Hear. Kucinich is the man.

Too bad that universal healthcare is too much of a socialist concept for the US. The US has a notion that Democrats are liberals or lefties. Democrats are just Republicans lite.

I prefer to say the Republicans are heavy Democrats, rather than to think of Democrats as light Republicans, but I know what you mean.

Everything Kucinich said was true, until the end, when he said that "When I'm the Democratic candidate... "
