Most pecan pie is so sweet that it is annoying. That is unfortunate. We are hopeful that this will not have that defect.

Here is a close-up.
The recipe?
Pecan Pie With No Corn Syrup
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 cup light brown sugar
* 1/4 cup white sugar
* 1/2 cup butter
* 2 eggs
* 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
* 1 tablespoon milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup choc chips
* 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans (toast in oven while pre heating)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
2. In a large bowl, beat room temperature eggs until foamy, and stir in melted butter. Stir in the brown sugar, white sugar and the flour; mix well. Finally, add the milk, vanilla and choc chips and 1 cup nuts.
3. Pour into an unbaked 9-in pie shell. Scatter remaining 1/2 cup pecans on top. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes at 375 degrees, then reduce temperature to 300 degrees and bake for 45 minutes, or until done.
This pie has a different appearance than pies made with corn syrup and it may appear that it is getting too brown during baking, but it will be fine.
Note: the chocolate chips are optional.
This recipe is made up from others, modified, based upon intuition. Intuition is good for that.

Comments
Mmm. Sounds good. I generally find, also, that I can cut the sugar in half, cut the salt (if any), in half, and use 3/4 volume of whole-wheat flour where the recipe calls for 1 volume of white flour. I don't think I'd try that last on a pie crust, but for chocolate-chip cookies it gives you something with an actual flavour besides "sweet."

Yankees! No good pecan pie is made with anything but Caro Corn Syrup (tm/sm/whateverm). If you want to live on the edge, use 1/2 light and 1/2 dark, but durn it, it's just plum gotta have corn syrup! The whole point of a pecan pie is toput yourself into sugar shock!

"No good pecan pie is made with anything but Caro Corn Syrup"
So not true. Or at least not completely. The pecan pies I've made substitute Lyle's Golden Syrup for part of the corn syrup, and it makes as good a pie as I've had anywhere.
The pie in the picture does not look like a satisfactory substitute. Flour in the custard? Poo.
