Albino Squirrel, and Links to Other Cute Animals

Category: Photos of Interest
Posted on: December 15, 2007 1:41 AM, by Joseph j7uy5

squirrel_287x450.jpgThis is an albino squirrel, as featured in the Daily Mail.  They have a gallery of such photos here, including an amazing albino peacock.

Also, check out the winners of the National Geographic photo contest.

That is probably a leucistic, not albino, squirrel. It appears to have dark eyes. (Though it is hard to say from the photo)

Where I live, a huge percentage of the squirrels are either leucistic or melanistic (essentially, black). Grey is just barely in the majority.

I hit a true albino squirrel with my Jeep a couple years ago in Bucks Co. PA (it ran out from the woods! I couldn't avoid it! Really!).
It's probably still in a freezer someplace.
