He spends most of his time balancing his overwhelming geekdom with normalcy so he can function in the real world. Luckily his wife likes his geekiness.



peter_chinchorro.jpg Peter Etnoyer is a Graduate Research Associate at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He studies deep corals and ocean fronts, and he loves to be on the water.

Live from the Gulf of Mexico

Secrets of the Gulf Expedition is broadcasting live footage of submersible surveys at 100m depth around the Flower Garden Banks in the Gulf of Mexico. This is the cutting edge of exploration technology.

They show continuous footage of the ARGOS tow sled as it performs scientific transects in search of biology, geology, and anthropology.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to watch the feed - the video quality is rather poor, the audio comes and goes, and the entire thing is choppy. And that's if I can get anything at all. Too bad - it seems like an interesting project.
