He spends most of his time balancing his overwhelming geekdom with normalcy so he can function in the real world. Luckily his wife likes his geekiness.



peter_chinchorro.jpg Peter Etnoyer is a Graduate Research Associate at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He studies deep corals and ocean fronts, and he loves to be on the water.

Japanese researchers publish there super duper extremely important must kill all whales research. They are getting skinny! Though they cite global warming as the cause in their paper, Anthony Judd thinks they might be forgetting something...

Um, small correction -- it's an albino WHALE shark (Rhincodon typus), not a great white (Carcharodon carcharias). No head-ripping here, unless you're a plankter!

Awesome whale shark image! (though they only rip the heads off plankton an small fish) But they sure can slap you down with that tail!

So I guess now they're down to 1600 whales per paper, but their statistics must rock with 4500 datapoints.
