Now featured in the news section for Heartland's Denialist Conference is Frank Bi's parody video.

Check it out before they take it down!

Update: Show's over. They replaced the video.

I just watched an entire denialist video to discover it wasn't a parody - sadly looks like they fixed it!

The new one is more professional, but it has it's moments: "And are they going to admit that force feeding these new technologies into every aspect of our lives could bankrupt a world already teetering on financial ruin. No they are not. They like to scare you. We don't."

If warning about bankrupting the world isn't scaring, what is?

Yep, I made a WebCite archive a few days ago... the video refuses to show up on my browser, but the video number (JfiT0kmBhc4) is right inside the archived page source.

Actually this doesn't surprise me. Many times deniers don't read their 'evidence'. They headline read. I've followed a number of denier links in the past and after reading it, found that the 'evidence' actually disproves their case. I'm sure others have found the same thing.

I critique a fringe science theory and find the proponents do that all the time. I think it's something common to all pseudo and fringe science and history.

I do think it is more likely that some cracker linked to that parody than that Heartland by themselves decided to drop their own video (which they obviously had already produced) and replace it with a poorly made substitute. "Skeptics" can be gullible and quote parodies as if real, but in this case it just doesn't make any sense.

I might add that I saw about the video in that Swedish blog, and then wrote about it in the open thread, which, i suspect, is what alerted Tim to it. So Maggie should have some credit. What is amusing is that she works in advertising and still initially just thought it was a badly produced video by Heartland. She didn't realize it was a parody until I pointed to the author.

I don't know... it might also be possible that they were still in the process of finalizing their own video, and meanwhile decided to just throw in my video as a stopgap.

Funny isn't it.

The economics system that was propped up by fossil fuels led to the credit crunch. So instead of looking at how to make it better, these people want to continue with the failed system and then 'force feeding' new ideas is to blame for the problem.

Anyone would think that green tech and new green ideas were the cause of the credit crunch!??!

I took the WebCite snapshot (after seeing a linkback to Heartland on YouTube) at 1 Feb 09:54 UTC, and Tim Lambert blogged about it at 3 Feb 13:37 UTC. So I'd guess it's been up for at least 2 whole days.

I don't think the cracker theory is plausible. The replacement video was only just posted to youtube and wasn't even there when they embedded Frank's video. If a cracker had write access to their site I would have expected more changes to have been made.

No, this was just stupidity from Heartland.

I notice that Frank's video has been pulled. Did Heartland make a bogus copyright claim against it?
