Podcast update

OK, we've got a second episode up, with much better ones to come, including, hopefully, some rather heated discussions with a few interesting guests. Interestingly, if you click on the link above in Firefox, you are taken to the rss feed. If you do it in IE, you get an error. So, either use iTunes or FF.

The iTunes feed is up and running---you can see it on the right sidebar---it's the white coat thingy.

I've found that I'm not compulsive enough to write code, but if I have to update an xml file once a week, well, I'll dig deep for my inner compulsive self.

Hey chief, I admire you for taking on this technology. Pretty soon my daughter is going to be asking Little PalMD why I am not doing podcasts and such.

I'd be happier with it if i knew what i was doing. Talking i can do. Apparently I can also screw up the syntax of a properly formatted xml file.

Speaking of podcasts...anti-vaxers are featured on the latest "This American Life." It's disheartening because TAL is my favorite radio show - there's too much of the "give both sides of the story" to it. It would be nice to get an expert reply to this episode.

Thanks, kent. I just fixed that and a whole bunch of other stoopid syntax errors. I think im up and running again, just waiting for my itunes ping to suck up my next cast.

Looks like i got the code debugged...thanks folks.

Getting a 404 when I click the link.

Figured it out. You're missing /podcast/ between whitecoatunderground.com and the name of the podcast. Fortunately, your server allows directory browsing, so I found it. Maybe you should disable that "feature" to keep nosy folks out.

It should take you right to an rss feed when you click it...

A-ha...in IE it sucks, but in a real browser like Firefox, it works great. Still debugging, but best bet is still via iTunes.

If you hit that link in FF, it works great. If you do the itunes link, it works great. If you do it in IE, no go. The tech people at my server farm are giving me conflicting info of course.

Firefox, Opera, and (sometimes) Safari are smart enough to parse the data out of the RSS/Atom and show it in a pretty format. Explorer6 and Chrome, not so much. Explorer7 claims to have added support for this but I haven't tested this personally.

Regardless, as John H. pointed out, your feed is still broken because all of the links in the feed point to
http://whitecoatunderground.com/podcast2.mp3
and not http://whitecoatunderground.com/podcast/podcast2.mp3
where you can actually find it. The same thing appears to be true for the first podcast as well.

Thanks, terrence! I think that finishes the debugging!
