The Bitch is Back, by Andrew Corsello: "2009's most influential author is a mirthless Russian-American who loves money, hates God, and swings a gigantic dick. She died in 1982, but her spawn soldier on. And the Great Recession is all their fault..."
Profile
Mark Hoofnagle has a MD and PhD in physiology from the University of Virginia, and is now a general surgery resident. His interest in denialism concerns the use of denialist tactics to confuse public understanding of scientific knowledge.
Chris Hoofnagle is a recovering Washington, DC lawyer and information privacy law expert at UC-Berkeley Law School. Denialism became apparent to him while working on consumer protection laws in Washington. The Denialists' Deck of Cards is essentially a how-to guide for being an industry lobbyist.
PalMD is a practicing internist in the Midwestern United States. Aside from the great joy he finds in his family and his work, he likes communicating some of that joy to others. He has a special interest in the ways patients---and we are all patients at one time or another---are deceived by charlatans. He aims to change the world, one reader at a time. Previous writings can still be found here.

Nietzsche philosophized with a sledgehammer, Rand with a crayon.

Great article. Thanks for pointing it out.

The sad thing I've found about Rand fanatics is that they are almost always the very "simpletons" they supposedly despise. The only people I see "going Galt" are trailer park living, non-educated leeches, who think they're somehow in the top 1% of the country because they make $30K per year when the rest of the trailer park makes $20K.
Yes, please! Go Galt!! My taxes will go down for sure!

Funnily enough, the only people I've ever known who really did anything like "going Galt" were all hippies.

Funnily enough on the other side of things, a sizeable majority of the people I've ever met who were hardcore Objectivists/free-marketers/etc. were also jobless and dependent on their parents or other relatives.
I guess it's easy to pretend that everyone can bootstrap themselves (and those who don't are worthless leeches) when you've never even had to try.
