Well, probably getting a stipend to help you do it.

And, the really cool thing is that's part of the deal!

Hustle, hustle the deadline is March 7th, and all the contact info is below.

The NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates program in Environmental Microbiology at UNLV is accepting applications.

This grant provides students with the opportunity to work on a research project for a 10 week period with a faculty mentor. Students receive a $4000 stipend, round trip airfare, and housing in a UNLV dormitory.

Mentors have projects in the following areas:

• Adaptation of Pseudomonas fluorescens to Diverse Soils

• Biology of Shigella flexneri

• Magnetotaxis of Bacteria

• Microbial Ecology of Aquatic Ecosystems

• Mutagenesis in Nutrient Limiting Conditions

• Nutrient Cycling

• Sporulation of Bacillus anthracis

A complete application includes a one page career essay, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation from science instructors.

Please direct your biology students to the on-line application and list of potential mentors at http://sols.unlv.edu/reu_main.html. The deadline for applications is Friday March 7, 2008.

Freshman and students from institutions with limited research opportunities are encouraged to apply.

I wonder why US Univ. don't usually allow international students for summer research with stipend!
