He suggested that I pass the hat among my readers and we sponsor the show for Dispatches. It does have an appealing irony to it:

How about we take up a separate collection to pay some savvy eight-year-old to redo Gribbit’s wreck of a site so that it doesn’t lock up every few seconds in both IE and Firefox. Even if there were anything there worth reading, I can’t be bothered to wait 30 seconds for the scroll bar and links to start working.
This kind of problem is pathognomonic of many right-wing blogs, because their owners insist on littering their sidebars and headers with Ray-Ban-wearing bulldogs, musket-brandishing hilljacks, gyrating bible-whapping Elmer Fudd clones, and all manner of other ostantatious and resource-gobbling applets and animations and bullshit — whatever they can they can find that looks like it would intimidate a liberal. It’s almost to the point where, thanks to all the extraneous noise, the posts themselves on these blogs seem to be written by angry, clueless illiterates or something. I’m sure it’s just the shoddy presentation, though.

The Wide Awakes were a (non-violent) political support group that liked to dress up in quasi-military fashion and hold torchlight marches supporting the Lincoln candidacy and other Republicans in 1860. That this has anything to do with a radio program that makes Spongebob Squarepants look like Noam Chomsky I can’t say.

JC: The gist of it is that Gribbit showed up here yesterday afternoon threatening to stuff up Ed’s ass any money Ed sends his way. Ed traced the comment IP to a cable modem in Kansas. Gribbit lives in Ohio. Apparently even Gribbit’s Internet provider is anxious to disclaim any relationship with him. Odd, but certainly understandable.
Oh no (“Gasp”). He threatened to put money in someone else’s bum? I’m shocked. Just shocked.
Does thqat mean he won’t be taking all the money we’ve raised? Because I’m pretty he will. Eventually. I’ll just say it’s from the Association of Chritstian Cheer Leaders Untied. I mean, um, United.
