The Speech

Category:
Posted on: August 3, 2007 5:25 PM, by Ed Brayton

Our section is now over. Everyone's presentations went very well. Chris and Sean were both exceptional. The TV lights were really hot, on top of the fact that it's 90 degrees today. I started my speech by joking that we were all sweating like Mark Foley at a Boy Scout Jamboree, which got a good laugh. No idea when it will air on C-SPAN, but I'll post as soon as I know. A whole bunch of us are headed to Chinatown for dinner in a half hour or so. We're not even gonna try and get downtown. Lollapalooza is going on at Grant Park right now, so that's insanity - on top of the fact that every square foot of the city seems to be under construction.

Yeah cool Ed. So glad you had Chinese food, but did you meet Paris Hilton?

(Good Lord, people starstruck by Chicago?!!!)

I was really looking forward to seeing you on TV, but if you're going to be shvitzing like a yak in a sauna...

Ed, it was great to meet you. I had fun at the science panel and the caucus, thanks to everyone who came!

Sean-

It was great to finally meet you too, as well as your lovely fiance Jennifer. Your speech was terrific. You did a great job of making a typically dry scientific subject and making it entertaining and interesting. I couldn't have picked a better group to do this with than you, Chris and Tara. It was a blast.
