Heisman Trophy: Tim Tebow

I can’t believe this is even an argument. I don’t care that his team has 3 losses, the Heisman Trophy is given to the best player in college football and this guy is miles above anyone else. It isn’t even close, folks; the numbers are staggering. He’s in the top 10 in passing touchdowns with…

Scalia Hires Two Orthodox Jewish Clerks

For some reason I just think this is interesting. Justice Scalia has hired two Orthodox Jewish law clerks for next year. Both are Harvard Law grads, unsurprisingly, and both have spent a year clerking for a lower court judge.

My governor, Jennifer Granholm, has signed an executive order adding “gender identity or expression” to the list of prohibited bases for employment discrimination for state employees. Not likely to help a lot of people, but still the right thing to do.

Promote Peace, Get Harassed

Here’s a repulsive story. A bunch of kids in a Florida high school decide to start wearing t-shirts promoting peace to school and end up getting harassed by a bunch of little fascist larvae: “People just turned on us like that,” she said. “At least 10 boys stood up and yelled things at me at…

Cert Filed in Summum Cases

Rememeber the Summum cases from Utah? Summum is a fringe religious groups that wants to put monuments to their principles, called the Seven Aphorisms, next to Ten Commandments monuments. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in their favor in two cases involving two different cities in Utah, each of which had refused to allow…

Huckabee Piles Up Celebrity Endorsements

First it was Chuck Norris, now it’s Ric Flair. CNN reports: First it was martial arts hero and “Walker, Texas Ranger” star Chuck Norris, who appears with Huckabee in his first TV ad. Then hard-rocking hunting enthusiast Ted Nugent jumped on the Huckabee bandwagon, citing the Republican’s support for second amendment rights. Now, Huckabee is…

Richard Roberts Steps Down

AP reports: The president of Oral Roberts University, facing accusations he misspent school funds to support a lavish lifestyle, resigned on Friday, officials said. Richard Roberts’ resignation is effective immediately, according to a statement e-mailed from George Pearsons, chairman of the school’s Board of Regents. He will, no doubt, continue to fleece the credulous through…

O’Reilly Falsely Accuses USO

How predictable. You knew this ignorant blowhard couldn’t just go to Afghanistan to meet with the troops without primping and preening and trying to make himself look extra special for doing so. AP reports: Speaking from Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday, O’Reilly told the AP that he’s disappointed the USO “doesn’t put anybody out there (in…

Supreme Court to Hear 2nd Amendment Case

After several conferences to discuss the case and no decision made, the Supreme Court has finally decided to grant cert in a case involving the 2nd amendment. The government of Washington, D.C., is asking the court to uphold its 31-year ban on handgun ownership in the face of a federal appeals court ruling that struck…

Remember: Support The Troops

Keep this in mind the next time a Bush supporter blathers on about the need to support the troops. The Pentagon is demanding that soldiers injured in combat pay back part of their signup bonus because they were unable to fulfill their full commitment. Seriously. The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service…
