Jon Rowe is linking to some of his old posts and this one is one of my all time favorites. It’s about Robert Reed, who played the father on the Brady Bunch. Reed was a classically trained actor and, it turns out, a bundle of neuroses. Rather than just accepting that he was on a cute little sitcom, he wrote incredibly long and detailed memos to the show’s producers, lecturing them on the whole history of drama and comedy and fighting them on every little detail about the show. Jon reprints one of those memos and it’s hilarious to read. This is a guy who took himself way, way too seriously.
