Hulk Hogan Endorses Obama

Posted on: January 31, 2008 9:16 AM, by Ed Brayton

Mike Huckabee has the Nature Boy Ric Flair, John McCain has Sylvester Stallone and now Barack Obama has Hulk Hogan. Hogan declared on the Jimmy Kimmel show that he's supporting Obama. I'm all giddy. We're obviously one step closer to finding out who Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake endorses. My money is on Hillary.

Schwarzeneggar is backing McCain as well. Just thought you'd be interested...

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake actually endorsed John Edwards, duh.

I'm most interested in who Rowdy Roddy Piper supports. Less for his wrestling career and more for his fine performance in "They Live."

An endorsement by Hulk Hogan? Dear Zeus, this clinches it: Barack Obama is as American as apple pie. He'll be president for sure.

I don't suppose there's any chance of celeb endorsements descending so far into the absurd that they become discredited? Endorsement by other politicos (eg. Kennedy) makes a kind of sense, as does endorsement by pundits (in principle -- individual pundits are obviously capable of drooling idiocy). But actors? Pro wrestlers? I may as well put pictures of candidates in the litterbox, and ask my cats to "endorse" them!

Your country is seriously wierd.

I'm wondering who "Warrior" is going to endorse. I'm guessing Ron Paul.

And if I recall, he did actually have his name legally changed to "Warrior" at some point...

let's just settle this during the middle of wrestlemania and spare the country another horrible election. maybe the pay per view revenues can pay down the national debt.

If Chuck Norris giving an endorsement doesn't discredit the whole idea of celebrity endorsements, who would it take? Carrot Top? Flava Flav? Vanilla Ice?

Mankind/ Cactus Jack/ Mick Foley is a more insightful political commentator.

Why am I forced to walk the Earth with this conscience? Maybe, if there's such a thing as reincarnation, I can come back down to Earth and just trample all over people without giving a damn about anyone but myself. That would be awesome. That's it -- in my next life, I'm coming back as a conservative.

Next question. Who is Jesse "The Body" Ventura supporting? As an apparent atheist, he doesn't have many choices.

Why would the man who formidably grappled with the Iron Sheik now support a man with Hussein as his middle name??

I don't care who Jesse "The Body" Ventura endorses; I want to know who Bobby "The Brain" Heenan endorses.

I am atheist and I support Obama... not sure what one's religious affiliation has to do with anything. I don't have a problem with a politician believing in God if they understand that that can't be their motivation for policy decisions.

Jesse Ventura has reportedly indicated he considers himself a potential third-party candidate in 2008, which if true would seem to make it unlikely he will endorse anyone in the primaries.
