Ooh, More Celebrity Endorsements

Posted on: January 27, 2008 9:09 AM, by Ed Brayton

Ladies and gentlemen, the battle of the blowhard has-beens is heating up. Sylvester Stallone, on the eve of releasing his latest pathetic attempt to remain relevant, Rambo: First Prostate Exam, has endorsed John McCain. Take that, Chuck Norris. There's only one way to settle this: steel cage match to the death, Rocky vs Walker, Texas Ranger. Geritol would love the sponsorship rights. We could have them do some sort of acting competition, but the two men combined have all the emotional range of Terri Schaivo (thank you, Nick DiPaolo).

Yes, but who does Christopher Lambert endorse?

There can be only one....

For the record Rambo was excellent, provided you went to the theater expecting him to rip out throats with his bare hands.

Rush Limbaugh is advising his audience to go see Rambo because its the perfect example of what happens when Democrats control foreign policy (I think he was equating them with the missionaries). Rambo coming into rescue them and kick ass is apparently how Limbaugh imagines himself in the fantasy world his mind inhabits.

Myself, I just like seeing a 61 year old roid popping action star kill people.

...does anyone else find it incongruous that McCain, who has held Senate hearings on steroids in baseball, and just last month shamed the Rocket for his alleged Human Growth Hormone use -- "I'm very disappointed with Roger Clemens" -- is now locking arms with Sly Stallone?

This is the same Stallone, after all, who was convicted in Australia last May for illegally importing human growth hormone and testosterone into that country -- including 48 vials of an HGH drug banned in the U.S.

But, but...... don't godless Hollywood actors always endorse LIBRULS!?!?!?!?! :)

"but the two men combined have all the emotional range of Terri Schaivo"

Isn't that a little harsh?

Towards the late Mrs Schaivo, I mean.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing Rambo. Plot structure be damned, sometimes you just need a good old fashioned O.D. of violence.

Have you heard the news, Ed? One of Fred Thompson's former staffers has started a Chuck Norris Boycott. WND broke the story last night, which of course sent the loyal masses to the site in support of their beloved Walker, Texas Ranger.

"...but the two men combined have all the emotional range of Terri Schaivo"

Holy crap! Anyone who writes such a tasteless comparison has little room to go apeshit over some dude picking up dog shit with a Bible.

Ed is right. The title of the new Sly movie could just as easily have been "Rambo: Jumping the Shark".

Saw Stallone on Letterman recently, he looks good. They showed a clip from the movie, and the man has been working out. You catch a trailer for the movie, that's Stallone you see. I don't care what people say, even the best CGI is nowhere near that good.

I thought Rocky Balboa was fantastic. So I'll probably see the new Rambo, although I wasn't as much of a fan of the originals as I was the original Rockys.

Alan: Stallone does (or at least used to do) human growth hormone and has admitted as much. So yeah, he looks in shape, but he's had some help.
