Here's another great photoshop mocking of Ben Stein and Expelled, this time from Quidam at After the Bar Closes (see original here). And here's a popup of the image.

I think J-Dog's observation that Hitler appears to have been a YEC is equally interesting.

The complexity there, as noted, is that, at least according to some (I don't know this first hand) later editions change the "thousands" to "millions" indicating some rethinking of... well, something. But we don't know for sure if it was Hitler himself who made or cared about the change.

When was it that we first discovered that the Earth was billions, and not just millions, of years old?

The first meteorites were radioisotope dated in 1956. Lacking geological processes to "reset the clock", meteorites age the formation of the solar system nicely. Before that, pretty much all anyone had were "The earth is at least this old" estimates that had pushed the age back to a little over a billion.

Wikipedia has a pretty good review of the topic.

I assure that Der Fuhrer did not base his views on superior races and elimination of the unfit on Mr. Darwin.

And anyway, I didn't know about any of it until after the war.
