Texas Denies ICR Accreditation

Posted on: April 25, 2008 9:30 AM, by Ed Brayton

The Institute for Creation Research wants to move its operations, including it's grad school, to Texas from California, but it's just hit a snag: the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has rejected their request that they be allowed to issue graduate degrees in that state. This is not the first time the ICR has had this battle. They were allowed, then denied, then allowed again to give out such degrees in California. Sandefur wrote a law review article about the accreditation controversy in California a few years ago.

You can't issue a graduate degree in bullshit unless it's agricultural.

I'm sure there will be more comments, but I think IlDayo said it all.

I just realized a few days ago that one of my routes to work takes me right past ICR's offices here in Dallas. I felt a little stupider just having to drive by the place.

I predict that they will sue the THECB on first ammendments grounds, claiming that their right of freedom of religion has been infringed by refusing to recognise their education due to their religious views.

I further predict that a prominant conservative legal group - the ACLJ or the ADF - will provide assistance in doing this.
