The case in Wisconsin challenging a school's ban on art with a religious theme by students has been settled, with the school agreeing to amend its policies and allow religiously themed artwork by students as long as the art satisfies the criteria of the assignment. That's the right result and it's a good thing that the school came to its senses so quickly.

This goes both ways. In Sunday School my son was supposed to draw a picture of Jesus calming the storm. He drew Jesus in the Disneyland Jungle Cruise boat. 8^) They put it up on the wall, anyway.

I would do likewise at my church.

The statement "the teachers had the best intentions" says it all - road to perdition and all that. This never should have happened.
For pete's sake! We're going to let students "make up their own minds" in science class, but they can't express themselves through art in a world history class? Let's do jumping-jacks in math class while we're at it, shall we? (And once you remove the sex, violence, and religion, what's left of history, may I ask?)
