John Yoo Hates Presidential Power

When it’s exercised by Bill Clinton. Gene Healy points out that in the 1990s, Bush apologist John Yoo was railing against Clinton’s “imperial presidency” in a book put out by the Cato Institute. Now that Bush is in power, of course, he’s not only the chief apologist for Bush’s various power grabs, he thinks the president should be a virtual dictator. Healy calls this “situational constitutionalism.” I call it hypocrisy.
