The Extraordinary Chutzpah of Karl Rove

Posted on: July 1, 2008 9:02 AM, by Ed Brayton

Karl Rove actually went on TV with Bill O'Reilly and slammed the New York Times for outing a CIA agent. Seriously. Karl Rove doesn't have brass balls, they're made of cast irony. In related news, Paris Hilton called Britney Spears shallow.

Ed,

This isn't irony; it's part of a pattern.

1. Max Cleland is a coward.
2. John Kerry is elitist and a traitor.
3. Barack Obama is elitist and a racist.

up is down ?!

Which part of "Mr. Martinez had never worked under cover" does Mr. Rove fail to understand?

Herod ... Wow.

I literally said this aloud...

"Mr. Orwell to the white courtesy phone ... Mr. Orwell to the white courtesy phone..."

Although not a fan of Mr. Rove, when watching that clip, it was apparent to me that Mr. "Oh Really?" was trying to coax Rove into stating that everything Rove did was okay, and that "Oh Really" was going to use this as an opportunity to really broadside the NYTimes. However, Rove didn't seem to want to bite as strongly as the goading would appear that Oh Really wanted him to (convoluted sentence, I'm sorry). I mean that bit near the end is hilarious:

Oh, Really? (emphasis his): Yeah, but they think that you put our country at risk, Mr. Rove. You see? That's where they're coming from.

Rove: Every- every single day they think I put America at risk.

Oh Really? (seeming deflated): And that's where we are in the United States.

Clip ends without the usual "Oh, Really?" triumphalist bull droppings (which may well have been cut out).

I don't know about calling her shallow... But there is a very notorious photo where Hilton is literally trying to get Spears to keep her legs shut...

Irony, no.
Hypocrisy, yes.

Karl Rove is so slimy, you just have to look at him and you know he needs to be indicted for something.

Karl Rove doesn't have brass balls, they're made of cast irony.

That's about the best line I have ever read.
