You know, I thought I couldn't love The Onion any more than I did, but then they came up with the Onion News Network and proved me wrong.

Oh wait, I'm an idiot.

Turnabout is fair play.

That's the simplest truth there is.

Chasers is great.

Here's another great one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38ua5Yzqv6c

I don't see the humor. Christians aren't known for pushing the idea that homosexuality is genetic. So this doesn't really play as parody of Christians. In fact it seems to me that it's ultimately making fun of the idea that homosexuality may have a genetic component. Am I analyzing too deeply or perhaps missing something?

I think you might be digging too deeply or perhaps missing the point. The truth is that homosexuality does have a genetic component, whether or not Christians or whoever claim to the contrary, so the video is acknowledging that reality while also digging at the homophobia (in this country usually masquerading as Christianity) that is responsible for all the hardship that gays and lesbians have endured.

Abby, I don't think the analogy has to be direct.

It can work if some things are inverted:
Gay <--> Xtian
Gene <--> Choice
Scientist <--> Priest (sort of...)

Any more?

Reminds me of the recent Onion article something like "Scientists isolate gay gene, ridicule it". I'm at work and can't look it up.

Thanks Sadie and Dan. I think I can see what they were going for. Perhaps my sense of humor simply decided to say in bed today. Wish I could join it.

The narrator is Chris from Chaser's War on Everything. They did a program on televangelists that was funny as hell.

Abby, I was also thinking that it was a general poking fun at of the genetic/lifestyle/normal/abnormal debate, which is a distraction.

I love the bit where the xtian says "Christianity is a lifestyle choice... it's completely natural!"

And also the "We've developed a mouse that is born non-Christian, and we hope to do the same for humans." which I find hilarious in light of the fact that humans really are born non-Christian... :)))

As a devout secularist let me make it clear that I don't hate Christians, I hate the sin. I merely want to save them from a lifestyle that is clearly destructive, unnatural and immoral. But unfortunately we live in a country that has lost touch with its secular roots. In many parts of the country "churches" out number gay bars. Politicians from both parties fall over themselves cravenly currying favor with militant Christian activists. And what about the children? Did you know that they have large organizations whose sole purpose is to indoctrinate helpless little children into their deviant lifestyle? And that they have a large and well organized movement to bring this indoctrination into our public schools!Stand up to them and what happens? You are called hatemongers, bigots and godless atheists. Sometimes I lose hope.

hmmm... this was supposed to be a satire,but looking at it...
