Astute Analysis from Former SNL Star

Posted on: September 3, 2008 9:23 AM, by Ed Brayton

Just in case you thought Victoria Jackson was just pretending to be a dumb blonde on SNL:

I don't want a political label, but Obama bears traits that resemble the anti- Christ and I'm scared to death that un-educated people will ignorantly vote him into office.

Yeah, those "un-educated" people are a real threat to you, Victoria. And by the way, you've earned a political label: moron.

Hmm, come to think of it, he does kind of resemble how the book of Revelations describes the anti-Christ's introduction to the world. Super popular, came out of nowhere, wants to be the most powerful person in the world, keeps talking about making changes... Not to mention that the apocalypse is supposed to happen in 2012, right at the end of Obama's second term.

Wow, now I know why the Biblical literalist fundies are so afraid of him.

You see, what bothers me most, besides being a Communist, and a racist.

We must in all seriousness ask if Barack Hussein Obama could be a Muslim terrorist sympathizer or a Marxist mole. His closest friends include Communists, domestic and Muslim terrorists, racists and convicted felons. In his book Audacity of Hope, Barack Hussein Obama says, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Pres. Bush did not start the war against America and he is doing a great job with the situation that was put upon him. Also, we do not have a king. Our system of government has checks and balances.

He pretends to be a Christian and he incriminates himself everytime he speaks about Christianity. To lie about being a believer in Christ is very dangerous. Lightning could strike him at any minute! But seriously, he doesn't have a clue what the Bible says and yet he pretends to be a church- going Christian to win votes. That is sooooo evil.

She is sooooo f*%cking crazy.

That's really weird, I was just thinking about her a couple of hours ago, probably the first time I thought of her in a decade. (Specifically I remembered once when I was watching SNL when she was introducing the musical act and she was wearing some sort of low-cut 17th century dress from the previous skit and I could swear you could see the top of her areola. I briefly considered Googling it to see if I didn't imagine it, but then lost interest.)

Besides her dumb blondeness, what I remember most about her was she was some sort of ditzy Jesus freak... and looking at her site, yeah, that's about what I remembered.

I'll gladly forget about her for another decade.

By second term, I of course mean first term. This is why I shouldn't try to think before my first coffee.

Of course, voting for Obama may be dangerous, in the sense that voting for Adolf Hitler's opponent in that election might have been dangerous to Germany or the world.

It seems that the "elect" is truly deceived, here.

"His closest friends include Communists, domestic and Muslim terrorists, racists and convicted felons."

I could name another leader whose 'friends' included tax collectors, politicians, criminals, prostitutes, and people who were despised by the majority - - - but that would be blasphemy, wouldn't it?

Victoria and her ilk....
Regardless who is the president 2012 will come. Do the wingnuts expect to prevent the apocalypse by taking office? If so, wouldn't they be violating some holy writ?
I think that if asked to spell 'Moron' Victoria would say: "Um, M - O - R - A - N."

I don't see why people would have a problem with the antichrist winning an election. If they believe in the antichrist, then they believe the antichrist is supposed to be elected and be in charge of all kinds of antichrist stuff, don't they? Shrug!

From further down the page:

Open Letter to Joy Behar and Others Who Speak Like Her:
I'm really tired of your hatred rants against Pres. Bush. Have some respect for authority and for the people like me who voted for him. I did not vote for Bill Clinton, but I would never use my SNL connection to publicly criticize him and I would never speak of another human being with such vitriol.
No, because labeling someone as the anti-Christ is an expression of Christian love.

Oooh, another has-been celebrity who found the love of Jayyyyzus and "got saved". Maybe she'll be hanging out with Roy Comfort and Kirk Cameron next.

For some reason, I thought the AntiChrist was supposed to be a Jewish banker and Robert Redford lookalike.

I saw her on Celebrity Fit Club. She has daddy issues. I could be remembering wrong so please don't quote me but from what I remember, he commented on her weight so she struggled to remain slim. Caught up with her in adult years, hence her stint on Celebrity Fit Club. But in reading her web page, everything to me screams "LOVE ME! APPROVE OF ME!"

Isn't the rapture the goal? These are the same people running all over the place looking for a red cow. Seems they would want the process to begin so they could get to the end, and we all would finally understand the error of our ways, and there would be a lot of delicious chaos with orcs slugging it out with Joel's Army and all that, then it's hell. These people weird me out. First they hate government...but they want to run it. Then they run it really badly, and screw it up, but...STILL they want to run it. You think Sarah Palin would say, "Hell, no!", or whatever she would say.

And whoa! is that dizzy puta long-winded!

By not electing Obama, you are opposing God's Will and his divine plan to bring himself back as Jesus to wield a tongue like sword and those handsome feet of brass.

Poor Jackson... see you in Hell oh enemy of God!

Posted by: MC Pickard | September 3, 2008 10:59 AM

15

I'm so confused. Wouldn't they want to see the anti-christ get elected to imminentize the eschaton and all that?

Posted by: df | September 3, 2008 11:10 AM

16

You guys are being way too logical! We all know by now that logic only applies to folks like Jackson when they want it to - any time logic or reason forces them to come to an alternate conclusion, the faith banner gets unfurled, the fingers go in the ears, the head goes in the sand, and that's that.

Wasn't she in SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE?

I wonder if a "real Christian", as she seems to know what that is, would be in a movie like that.

"Come On America! Wake Up! How stupid can you people be?!"

I believe Ms Jackson has adequately demonstrated just how stupid Americans can be.

My country isn't the way it used to be when I grew up, and I miss it so much. I contribute this directly to a rapid decline in Bible teaching [sic]resulting...

Contribute?? And I attribute this to a rapid decline in English, uh, teaching. Don't mean to be all grammar snob and all but this indicates a little something about her intellectual prowess.

@ ice9: I love the Vonnegut reference!

Oh god, I still hear this woman's voice in my nightmares. She managed to be one of the most obnoxious actors on a show featuring obnoxious actors. That's quite an accomplishment!

I thought the whole 2012 thing had to do with the end of the Mayan calendar, not Christian prophecies.

But yeah, the scary thing about end-times Christians is they have access to a lot of power in America and there is a potential for a feedback loop in the way they interpret current events through the lens of confirmation bias, i.e. if they see danger in the world they interpret it as apocolyptic prophecy coming true. And from their point of view, why fight prophecy? So for the rational people who want to do what we can to diffuse war and other threats, we have to go up against these people who see them as inevitable.

Posted by: Chris | September 3, 2008 2:12 PM

wow, not only does her page play an obnoxious soundclip the moment you open it... it doesn't stop when you close the window! How do people not realize how obnoxious that is? /rant

Oh, and every Bible-thumper who mentions anti-christ (singular) should be challenged to find that word in the Bible. The plural shows up... singular? not so much. Hoorah for Bible literalcy (and Bible literacy too!)

Julia Sweeney, another SNL alumni, has a popular one-woman show called Letting God of God, which is her account of her personal "spiritual" and intellectual journey to atheism. She's spoken at several humanist conventions on the public reactions, and mentioned that her Born Again friend Victoria Jackson saw the show, and told her that it had inspired her to do a similar show.

Only, in this one-woman theater piece, Victoria would go through all the research and deep thinking, and then come to the conclusion that there IS a God, and Jesus was sent to save the world. And first, she was going to start by reading theological Biblical criticism, to give her a good, intellectual background before she started writing the script.

Julia said that she told her "uh, that's nice. Good luck with that." Months later, Julia got a postcard from Victoria, which said: "This Bible stuff is hard."

Ah, come on Ed, she's joking. I thought she was serious until I read about the serpent in the Garden of Eden, and then I realized it's all a big put on. Very Andy Kaufman like practical joke. Weird, but funny.

Posted by: soboco | September 3, 2008 3:50 PM

31

Wow, Sastra. That makes me a little disturbed to hear, because it shows how little empathy I have left for the Christian I used to be. I don't know how a person of faith could watch/listen to Letting Go of God and not either a) seriously consider questioning that faith, or b) fly into a fit of rage (this latter group, of course, being much smaller as they would most likely refuse to see the show in the first place).

No, but she was in "Casual Sex".

I like this bit from her IMDB page: "Recently she has guest-starred on sitcoms such as The Naked Truth and The 700 Club."

I know a few people who question whether or not George Bush is Christian. Apparently he quotes hymns a lot more than the bible.

And what was our esteemed blogger Ed doing at Ms. Jackson's site anyway, hmmm? Got a weakness for dumb blondes, Ed? Particularly dumb blondes who can do handstands at the drop of a hat?

Don't worry, so do I, brother.

I also love the martyr card she plays: "I know my stance might keep me from LA jobs, since (almost) the whole town is liberal." Ben Stein has said the same thing. Just more proof that they are morons. "I can't work because the liberals in Hollywood don't like my politics." Yeah, right. Your total lack of talent is no factor at all.

No wonder Arnold became governor. The liberals in LA just wouldn't give him another job. /sarcasm

Sastra:

It sounds as if Victoria Jackson may be using the credulousness of the BBB (Babble Believing Boobs) to make her living.

Reminds me of a stanza from,IIRC, "Cadillac Avenue":

"Well he moved in next door to a "born again" whore.

Who figured she'd get more work that way.

Well, she fell for his eyes, and swallowed his lies

and their childrens' bodies too!"

Christians steal things. They're renowned for it. They've nicked multiple holidays and legends, a fair chunk of the OT, the behaviour of sheep, and so on. Smash-and-grabbing the 2012CE silliness is modus operandi...
