Palin's Parents Pillory Press with Puffery

Posted on: September 30, 2008 9:23 AM, by Ed Brayton

CBS did an interview with Sarah Palin's parents. And I know every parent has rose-colored glasses when it comes to their kids, but seriously:

What part of her personality, or her upbringing, is going to serve her best in all of this? Replied Chuck, "Hard-working, perseverance, honesty. Yeah, honesty. She won't fabricate things or exaggerate things. She'll tell it the way it is."

And without even a hint of irony.

An awesome and august accumulation of alliteration.

Senator John McCain is also on the truthiness bandwagon:

My friends, we need a president who will always tell the American people the truth.

Really Chuckster? - Hoo boy have I got bridge to nowhere to sell to you (you can even see Siberia from the top, so you too can be an expert on Foreign Relations). -DJ

Damn the fourth estate, those arrogant aggregators of accuracy.

In the interest of democracy and fair and balanced coverage, I demand CBS interview ALL the candidates' parents. Orac says McCain's mom is still alive, so it must be true! :)

Oh my, I didn't realize that bullshit was a genetic condition.

I suppose, as my dad is a lawyer, that I should get tested.

Now you are going after her parents?

@Coila:

Now you are going after her parents?

SIUYA

I don't believe so; if Ed was indeed responsible for kidnapping tham and forcing them to submit to interrogation on primetime TV, then yes, he is there to be criticised.

If they, however, chose to go on primetime TV to support their daughter's vice-presidential campaign, then why should their claims about her not be criticially examined. The idea that Sarah Palin is a paragon of honesty (opposed bridge to nowhere, opposes earmarks...etc) is a pretty discredited one by now, and any such fresh claims deserve slapping down.

Coila:

"Now you are going after her parents? SIUYA"

Well, gosh, to paraphrase someone's comment on the thread for the forced religious rehab.

"I really don't give a shit what some got besotted parents of a lying sack of shit Veep wannabe wants.

The country is going to hell, and my family is suffering.

Fuck them."

I know, I know, it sounds cruel but I think you can probably understand that it's just the way it has to be.
