The co-founder of the Federalist Society answers the question of whether distrust in the Bush administration was leading to skepticism about the treasury bailout plan:
This Administration deserves to be trusted because it has kept us safe from terrorist attack since 9/11, has fought and won two wars, has presided over eight years of economic growth, has appointed two stellar justices to the Supreme Court, and has even learned how to do Louisiana's job of protecting that state from hurricanes. The day will come, and not before long, when Americans will wish that George Bush was still president.
Of course, he was also a speechwriter for Dan Quayle. I guess that explains it.

Wow. The only adequate response I can think of to that excerpt would be:
ORLY?
With the appropriate pictures.

Ed, you well know that we've always been at war with Oceania!

Wasn't there a terrorist attack on an American embassy just a couple of weeks ago?

The day will come, and not before long, when Americans will wish that George Bush was still president.
This is entirely possible. I never thought the day would come that I would wish Nixon was still president, but then W took charge and proved me wrong.

it has kept us safe from terrorist attack since 9/11
Ignoring the fact that this administration didn't keep us safe from the terrorist attack ON 9/11.

When I first read that I was slightly distracted and thought it was an intentional parody.

Well, living in Louisiana, I have to say the Administration's Hurricane-Deflecto-Ray has actually been a bit of disappointment.

But ironically, the Administration hasn't learned how to protect Texas.

I think Bush has kept us safe from terroist attacks in the same way having a pink flamingo on my front lawn keeps my house safe from elephants.

If Sarah Palin ever becomes president, then maybe we will wish for the relatively rational, relatively peaceful, relatively educated Dubya.

Wow. That may be the most intensely concentrated pile of stupidity I've ever seen. I've been rendered nearly speechless just by reading it.
Why is it when I read comments from wingnuts like this that I always think of George Carlin's routine about how America's leading industry is the production of bullshit?

Obviously a cranial/anal interface malfuction. This must be what the world looks like when you've got your head stuck so far up your ass you're looking out through your navel.

Translation: What a waste it is to lose Bush's mind. Or not to have a Bush... We all look like such happy campers. Happy campers we are, happy campers will not always be. The future won't be better tomorrow... My fellow astronauts! Who is to blame for the economy? The economists are to blame. Who is to blame for gas prices? The gas pricers are to blame...
And Andrew, that's "ORLYE?".

Ed, this in combination with the Palin interview is likely to significantly reduce your readership. We'll be too stupid to read.

This would have worked in the ancient world. Ancient rulers put up monuments to their "victories" whether they were actual successes or even abject failures. They would have put up a relief mural depicting George Bush Jr's slaying of the opposing cheerleading team at Philips Academy. Then great triumphal statues of Jr personally slaying Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Followed by a Jesus-like image of him holding back the flood waters of Katrina. At the end, we would see a grand memorial to the American taxpayer who trusted the wise and noble leader to do what was right and heal the fractured economy. Out front would be a statue of Bush raining manna down on the grateful serfs. O, to be mighty and just like George Bush Jr.
