Another McCain-Rev. Moon Tie

Posted on: October 12, 2008 9:16 AM, by Ed Brayton

In addition to the previously revealed relationship between McCain adviser Charlie Black and the Rev. Moon -- Black was involved with setting up and inviting people to the now-infamous Moon coronation ceremony in a Senate office building in 2004 -- it has now come to light that McCain was on the board of the U.S. Council for World Freedom, one of the many front groups founded by Moon, in the early days of his political career.

The U.S. Council for World Freedom was an offshoot of Moon's World Anti-Communist League, an organization with ties to right wing dictators and former Nazis all around the world. Investigative journalist Robert Parry has documented these ties, as have Scott and Jon Lee Anderson in their book, Inside the League. Parry reports:

WACL became a well-financed worldwide organization after a secret meeting between Sasakawa and Moon, along with two Kodama representatives, on a lake in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. The purpose of the meeting was to create an anti-communist organization that "would further Moon's global crusade and lend the Japanese yakuza leaders a respectable new façade," the Andersons wrote.

Mixing organized crime and political extremism, of course, has a long tradition throughout the world. Violent political movements often have blended with criminal operations as a way to arrange covert funding, move operatives or acquire weapons. Drug smuggling has proven to be a particularly effective way to fill the coffers of extremist movements, especially those that find ways to insinuate themselves within more legitimate operations of sympathetic governments or intelligence services.

There is much more to this story. This could make the Ayers story look like small potatoes.

Ed:

None of this is anywhere near as heinous as Joe Biden's plaigarism, Barack HUSSEIN Obama's selection of his islaminustic middle name, the U.S. refusal to return to the gold standard or California's sliding into the ocean of gay marriage legalization. Sorry, I just know that mroberts and heddle are at church and I didn't want them to feel like no one would be making their arguments here--it's okay, my being able to do these "good works" is thanks enough, goshdarnit!

Now, then, what was the question?

Oh, yeah, Sunnymung Moonbat's ties to JohnnyPOW.

Are the Moonmessiah and the ImPalinator's witchdoctordoctor, Reverend Muthee colleagues or did they both adopt equally bizarre views independent of one another?

JohnnyPOW's not a disciple. He doesn't believe in anything beyond it's immediate ability to get him what he wants.

Just in case anyone out there is a hockey fan:

Please note that the NY Rangers, Gomez (an AK native), removes his helmet, priot to being kissed on the cheek by the McHuntress. This was in no way, however, a political gambit by the McStain campaign. If it had been Gomez would have been told in advance that he was going to be kissed by Sarah P.

Re democommie

Have no fear. I'm sure that Prof. Heddle will be along to tell us how much more dangerous Reverend Wright is to the republic then Reverend Moon.

I think McCain was just being strategic. He wants to reserve the right to have his own coronation ceremony if he gets elected. It might also explain his selection of Palin. Perhaps it was an arranged union by Rev Moon.

Wait, is this the same Reverend Moon, leader of 'The Moonies' which even the Daily Mail saw was a crack-pot cult that destroyed families, printed it on their front cover, got sued, successfully defended, counter-sued and got those nutters banned from operating in Britain?

OT, but democommie's (presumably mocking) reference to the usual trollish nonsense about gay marriage reminded me of my very favorite Roy Zimmerman tune, "Defenders of Marriage" - so I thought I'd share.

Here's Moon in all his glory:

Be sure to watch part two as well. How all this happened is a mystery to me. How could such an obvious crackpot have such political connections. And it's not just here in the US. Moon might have an even bigger operation in Japan and certainly has a lot of support from organized crime there.

What's the one thing that will draw all types of politician$?

trog69:

It's not just money, though Moon certainly has a lot of that to throw around. It seems as though his association with right-wing anticommunists appeals as well -- don't forget, it's 2008 and people still think that Red-baiting is a legitimate political argument. A lot of conservatives, both neo- and palaeo-, are very idealistic about their view of the world, even if it's a very egotistical and elitist sort of idealism, and I'd be willing to bet big bucks that a lot of Moon's associates in Washington think that any association is worth it if it keeps the Red Menace from returning.

Of course, I'm pretty sure Moon's in it only for the money (and possibly the groupies), which means his decades of Washington outreach are nothing more than garden-variety affinity fraud, like conmen taking entire church congregations for a ride by claiming to be Christian, so the churches have to trust them and give them massive amounts of money.

Yo Lucas-

Yes, he's THAT Moon.

The one whose cult took a close friend of mine in college and transformed him from a smart young guy with an athletic physique, into a brainwashed emaciated wreck with dark circles under his eyes who stood on street corners selling flowers to raise money for the cult.

And since Moon is not a US citizen, but a Green Card holder, he can and should be thrown the hell out of this country as an undesirable alien.

Frankly I would jump for joy if someone killed the the son of a bitch in cold blood, and I'm not the least bit ashamed to say so. And no doubt many who have lost friends or family to his brainwashing operation would say the same thing in their own unguarded moments. He's not a minor nutcase, he is a major hazard to anyone who gets anywhere hear him, and he is also a danger to democracy. He is responsible for more wrecked and ruined lives than you could imagine. He deserves to go to hell in the most literal Christian sense of the word, preferably soon, and via means that are slow and painful.
