It's about time God did something right.
Posted by: Skip | November 6, 2008 9:45 AM
Well, in fact, what was right for America WAS done on November 4.

God was going to vote, but his lack of last name and permanent address resulted in him being pulled from the registry as a "fraudulent voter."
He was also scared off by GOP tactics insinuating that he would be arrested if he showed up to vote due to at least one pending court case against him.

I love the "God will see us through" mentality. Then, when God doesn't give them what they most desire, do they question God, His methods, His very existence ... no, them not getting what they want is God's will as well.
They don't even see the contradiction, they don't even see the idiocy of it all. 10,000 people die, one survives, "it's a miracle." Someone suffers from a major illness in absolute agony but don't die as expected ... It's a miracle!"
It's a crock, that's what it is.

Dogmeatib, to your point.

Don't forget that this election validates the beliefs of all those people who were praying to Buddha, Allah or Hindu instead of Yahweh over this election.
Posted by: Herod the Freemason | November 6, 2008 10:23 AM
Actually dogmeatib, they see not getting what they want as God testing them. But never a rebuke of their own ideals.

Silly Freemason. This is just proof that God tests us with adversity in order to strengthen our faith in Republican politics, thereby indisputably demonstrating that He exists and those others do not. You may disagree now, but when the atheists and gays take over the country and ban Christianity and conservatism, you'll see.
That assumes, obviously, that this wasn't God's excuse to initiate Armageddon.

Wow. It had been in her hands, but then she put it in God's hands. And what did He do? He fumbled the ball. She should go kick His ass, rips His nuts off, punch His teeth in.
In abnormal psychology, we studied psychotic delusions. Apparently she's not taking her meds.
Posted by: Nattering Nabob of Negativism | November 6, 2008 10:40 AM
Actually it is a part of God's bigger plan that "we" just don't understand right now.
Or...this is proof that the Rapture will happen on January 2oth at 12:01 pm EST.
Or...maybe it was God's way of paying back the Palin family for spending sooo much on their shopping spree.
Or...well you get the picture.
See that's the good thing about being a Christian who doesn't place the will of the people upon God's shoulders. If *shudder* McCain had won-I would have blamed rednecks and the Christian Right before blaming God.

Rev,
Are you saying the people have free will?
Posted by: James Hanley | November 6, 2008 10:57 AM
God was quoted on Tuesday in one of the vast variety of magazines that have been in front of me over all these years, which I regularly read:
Are Midges anything like fruit flies?
Posted by: marnk | November 6, 2008 11:18 AM
James-Since we're hopefully not going to hear this anymore, I will answer you this way:
You betcha!
Posted by: Rev. AJB | November 6, 2008 11:23 AM
Marnk - yeah they're the same. Both have been inbred for generations for nefarious (and apparently expensive) scientific purposes. BwaHAHAHAHAHA. -DJ

I wonder how she feels about having said that, now that the results are in.
I wonder how fast she would deny ever having said it.
Posted by: Elaine | November 6, 2008 11:30 AM
Betcha Obama put the election in God's hands too.
He's a delusional believer too, don'cha know?
Posted by: Joel | November 6, 2008 11:37 AM
Just goes to show nobody can be wrong all the time.
Marnk:
Midges and fruit flies are both Diptera, the order that includes flies, but midges are more like tiny mosquitoes. Some of them bite. They are often referred to as "no see-ems."
Mostly they are just irritating until they buzz off.
I wonder what Palin will do, or what she will be able to do, about Ted Stevens if he wins, loses his appeal, and resigns or is kicked out of the Senate. Does she get to appoint herself to the Senate?
Posted by: BaldApe | November 6, 2008 12:15 PM
I feel for you poor Americans if she's given her own talk show hahahahahah
Posted by: Carol | November 6, 2008 12:22 PM
I've heard that on Tuesday God was busy giving Liverpool a penalty in the UEFA Champions League. He certainly answered my prayers
Posted by: Killinchy | November 6, 2008 12:26 PM
Much as Bible Spice might fantasize about appointing herself to the Senate when Stevens is ousted, she can't. The law in Alaska says there has to be a special election. Mudflats had a long explanation of the rules a day or two ago.

God, shrieking shrilly from above:
"Laces OUT, Sarah! Laces OUT!"
Posted by: StuV | November 6, 2008 12:44 PM
I made a tshirt with that phrase the day before the election, and wore it to our election night party and all Wednesday. Image here.

You'd think that after the election it would end, but no, the Palinfreude goes on and on.
Posted by: Norman Doering | November 6, 2008 3:41 PM
I see a distinct lack of a one Mr. Heddle here... Hmmm... But anywho: yes, her God did do right on Nov. 4. Hopefully she will learn from it. (Or maybe Muthie will say that people didn't pray hard enough.)
Posted by: mercurianferret | November 6, 2008 4:09 PM
"The law in Alaska says there has to be a special election."
Which she'll almost definitely win if she contests it.
I'm not sure she will though, the lower 48 is full of big meanies who think you need to know which three countries are members of NAFTA or whether Africa is a single country.
They even make fun of you for pushing abstinence-only sex ed and having a knocked-up unwed teen daughter.
Posted by: Ian Gould | November 6, 2008 6:16 PM
Oh holy priapulid worms, Carol!! A talk show! That is exactly what will come to pass.
Be afraid...

If God makes a few more good calls like this, I might forgive him for the last eight years. I might even start believing in him...nah.
It's up to us, guys, as scary as that seems. You can pretend that God is your co-pilot if you want to, but please keep your own damn hands on the wheel if I'm riding with you.

Obama will finish Carter's second term.
Look at his first appointment, Rahm Emanuel, extreme partisan whose father was an IRGUN leader.
So much for the "new politics" Obama talke about.
Watch as he fumbles the enconomy and we spiral into a depression.
His "true colors" (pun intended) are being shown.
Posted by: Goldstein | November 7, 2008 7:13 AM
Aye, the referee was certainly divinely inspired on that one.
Posted by: Adrian W. | November 7, 2008 8:42 AM
So God wants Obama to finish what Carter had started?
A Democratic President-elect facing a Democratic Congress hires a partisan Democrat to be Chief of Staff.
In other news, the Sun rose today.
He had his chance...one, two whole days...maybe not with any actual power, but hey yer outta here!!
Shucks. And the economy was doing so well until now.
Bon mot!

Goldstein,
I'm sure there are some skeletons hanging in your family tree as well.
So what exactly is your point?
Posted by: ZacharySmith | November 7, 2008 10:05 AM
So, either she meant what she said and believes that her defeat was God's will...or she was lying. I wonder which it is?
